Golf fans are reminded that Adrian Meronk was in the center of attention two years ago, when the then European captain was choosing the team that would play in Rome. Although it was to be expected that the Polish golfer would be part of Luke Donald's team, the European captain decided to leave the experienced golfer off the list. It was hard for Adrian to accept such things, but that moment also taught him an important lesson.
The 31-year-old hopes to have a chance to represent Europe at Bethpage Black this year, but this time he doesn't want to put pressure on himself. In an interview with the Mirror, Meronk pointed out that the Ryder Cup is in his plans, however, he is primarily focused on success in tournaments.
"It comes again to how I perform this year. It is definitely on my mind," Meronk said.
"But I want to focus on my game, keep playing good shots and keep playing good tournaments and if I am playing well enough I will be available for sure."
Adrian Meronk shares his expectations
The experienced Pole last time had a mindset that created problems for him. Having high expectations and then being disappointed is the last thing Meronk wants to happen to him again.
The 31-year-old realized that he must not have the same approach this time, wanting to dominate the tournaments ahead of him. Adrian is a golfer who certainly has the prospect of being part of the European team, although he is aware that many factors will decide.
Last time it was the only thing I was thinking about for almost two years. I put so much focus on that, so when I didnt get in I was super disappointed because I thought I deserved it. This time I am not going to put any more focus or motivation to make the team.
