The January 15 episode of AEW Dynamite took place at the Andrew J. Brady Music Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. They brought a lot of important segments during the show, including figuring out a new #1 contender for Mariah Mays AEW Womens Title.
The winner of this match will face Mariah May for the AEW Womens Title on February 15 at AEW Grand Slam Australia. Naturally, everyone in the match wanted to give it their all.
This match took place with 30 minutes left in the show. Mariah May made her way out to the commentary table so she could get a first-hand look at this historic first-ever womens Casino Gauntlet match. Then Kris Statlander and Jamie Hayter started out the match.
Megan Bayne made her way out next, which marked her debut for the company after inking a deal in recent memory. She was recently in STARDOM, and her entrance into AEW could really shake things up.
Julia Hart came out next to join the match. Willow was the next to come out to join the fray. Then Toni Storm came out to a big pop from the Cincinnati crowd. Harley Cameron is becoming a fan favorite, and she entered the match next.
The Casino Gauntlet match is exclusive to AEW, as it is one of Tony Khans creations. The match features participants entering at regular intervals until a winner is determined. The match can conclude at any time, even before all participants have entered. The winner will receive a shot at the title, and this is the first time theyve held a match like this for the women.
Suddenly, Toni Storm got a roll-up pin and won the match. Now, she will get a chance to win her AEW Womens Title back, even if she doesnt remember her first reigns as champion. Needless to say, things could be very interesting.
