Elina Svitolina has just clinched another strong win at the Australian Open after ousting world No. 83 Caroline Dolehide 6-1 6-4 to set up a likely third-round showdown against No. 4 seed Jasmine Paolini.

Early in the match, the two players were tied to one game apiece but then the 28th-seeded Ukrainian claimed three breaks in a row and won the next seven games to open a 6-1 2-0 lead.

And after going up by a set and a break, the former world No. 5 just held on to her serve for the remainder of the match to complete a two-set win.

Two days earlier, Svitolina kicked off her post-surgery comeback by beating Sorana Cirstea 6-4 6-4.

Now in the third round, she will likely have a tough test but also a chance to earn another big win - she plays the winner of the match between two-time Grand Slam finalist Paolini and Renata Zarazua.

Svitolina's game plan for the Dolehide worked out

Going into the match, the 30-year-old admitted she didn't know much about the American but noted that she would focus on serving well and also returning strong.

And she managed to do exactly that as the Ukrainian tennis star fired seven aces - created 10 break points - and converted three.

Also, Svitolina impressively saved 8-of-8 of the break points she faced.

"Ive never played or trained with her, but Ive seen her matches a few times, so I have a basic understanding. Ill discuss her game with my coach," the No. 28 seed told Ukrainian Tennis before the Dolehide match.

I have two days to recover physically and work on my strokes and serve. She has a very strong serve, so Ill need to be effective on returns. Well create a game plan and prepare accordingly."

If Svitolina plays her best in a potential matchup against Paolini, there is no doubt that she will have her chances.
