Another 'pearl' of Spanish golf arrives this season at LIV Golf, the controversial Saudi Super League that has shaken the foundations of this sport due to its excessive influx of millions and its dispute with the traditional circuits, counting the two most important in the world, the American and the European.

Castelln-born Sergio Garca's team, Fireballs GC, has announced the signing of Luis Masaveu, 22, who turned professional last October after a brilliant amateur career that included the semi-finals of the 2024 US Amateur, the most prestigious tournament in the category. In those semi-finals he lost against his friend Josele Ballester, who was ultimately the champion.
The Madrid native, who joins the team in place of Eugenio Chacarra, will join his compatriots Sergio Garca and David Puig and the Mexican Abraham Ancer at Fireballs GC.
"It's incredible. I've followed Sergio since I was a kid, watching him win the Masters and the Ryder Cup, so to be with him now is just amazing. I'm very happy to be here and I'll try to learn as much as I can from him," said Masaveu, who became the first Spaniard to make the cut at the British Open as an amateur in 2024.

"We're excited about him," Garcia said. "He's young, a great kid with a lot of passion and the potential to become a great player. Obviously, it's his first year as a professional and, coming and playing with the greats, I think it's going to be a good learning experience. But all three of us, not just me, but Abraham and David, are going to be there to support him, encourage him and make sure he can enjoy his game and play as he can," Sergio added.
With the addition of Luis Masaveu to Fireballs GC, only the last golfer for the 2025 LIV Golf season remains to be made official, the replacement for Zimbabwean Kieran Vincent in the team of the Basque Jon Rahm, who everything points to will be the Northern Irishman Tom McKibbin. The Legion XIII captained by Rahm maintains the Englishman Tyrrell Hatton and the American Caleb Surratt.
