CM Punk has been a constant presence in WWE NXT since returning to the company, and its clear his influence isnt going unnoticed. Oba Femi, one of NXTs rising stars, recently opened up about how much he values Punks advice, especially since hes still actively competing.
Speaking on the No-Contest Wrestling podcast, Femi explained why getting feedback from Punk carries extra weight. Yes, yes I have been able to. He gave me feedback on my match with Wes Lee, he gave me feedback on my match with Axiom, I remember him being present for those two. Hes been at so many more shows, but those are the ones I remember going to talk to him after my match, Femi shared.
He pointed out that while veterans always provide valuable insight, their advice is sometimes rooted in an older era of wrestling. Thats where Punk stands out. Its always good to have someone who is currently active tell you things because theyre in with the times, theyre here experiencing the change in the winds and all of that with you, Femi said.
Femi acknowledged that wrestling has evolved, especially with how performers now connect with fans on a deeper level. The old timers will tell you, kayfabe, protect the business, love the business, die for the business and all of that. Its still the same way, but now, were at the point where were pulling the curtain back a little bit, we let the fans in on what we do and who we are outside of when were just on TV.
At the end of the day, Femi sees Punk as a major asset to NXT and hopes others in the locker room are taking advantage of his presence. CM Punk, long story short, CM Punk is a very useful tool, hes honestly a huge resource and I hope the other NXT superstars see it the same way and its amazing to have him at the PC.
With Punks deep involvement in NXT, many fans have speculated that he could end up leading the brand one day. Whether that happens or not, its clear that his impact is already being felt.
