WWE brought a big three-hour SmackDown to the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California for their January 17 episode. Tiffany Stratton walked into the building as WWE Womens Champion, but she was prepared for her first title defense.

Bayley won a big fatal four-way #1 contenders match during the January 10 episode of SmackDown. That got her a title shot, and they didnt wait long for her to get that match. After appearing during the January 14 episode of NXT, Bayley was ready to claim the gold.

Tiffany Stratton defended her WWE Womens Championship against Bayley in the final match of the night this week. This contest was hyped from the opening of the show, and fans in San Diego couldnt wait for Tiffy Time.

Bayley battled Tiffany Stratton and sold for the champion throughout the beginning of the contest. The match also went through a commercial break, but Bayley took control after they came back from the break. Still, Stratton wasnt about to let her title slip away easily.

Just as Bayley maintained control once again, they went to a second commercial break. The match continued via picture-in-picture as they carried on with the back-and-forth contest.

The two battled on the outside of the ring and Bayley landed a suplex off the announce table after bouncing her off it. Roxanne Perez was at ringside, and she had some words with Bayley, because they had a brawl on NXT this week. Then they got back in the ring, Bayley nearly won the match, but Stratton kicked out and then got out of a submission hold to nail a spinebuster and get a near fall herself.

Bayley was on her A-Game, but Tiffany Stratton was pulling deep in her first title defense. Then Bayley landed a Bayley-To-Belly Suplex for a two count. Tiffany Stratton tried for a Prettiest Moonsault Ever, but Bayley stopped her. Then Stratton avoided a Rose Plant twice to hit a cartwheel Alabama Slam and a Prettiest Moonsault Ever for the win.

WWE SmackDown closed out this week with Tiffany Stratton celebrating her big win. We will have to see what is next for the 25-year-old breakout Superstar at this point.
