After the Briton collected straight-set wins over Ekaterina Alexandrova and Amanda Anisimova, there was hope that she could threat or possibly even upset the world No. 2 in Melbourne.

But right from the start, it was clear where the match was headed - the 2021 US Open champion managed to save two break points in the second game to tie the first set to one game apiece but then lost the following 11 games.

During the match, Swiatek fired 24 aces and won a stunning 83 percent of her first serve points and didn't face a single break point.

On the other side, Raducanu made four double faults, sprayed 22 unforced errors and had just seven winners.

Now, the 23-year-old Pole owns a 4-0 head-to-head record against the Briton.

While the five-time Grand Slam winner has never lost a set to the 22-year-old, this was the first time that she registered a bagel in one of their matches.

For Swiatek, this was her third bagel of 2025.

In the next round, she plays against lucky loser Eva Lys.

Raducanu kept it straight honest after the Swiatek defeat

After getting hammered by the No. 2 seed, the British tennis player described the scoreline as "quite harsh" and also acknowledged that it was tough to do anything when her rival was at the top of her game.

Credit to Iga, she played good tennis, but I think it was a little bit of her playing well and me not playing so well. That combination is probably not good and resulted in today.

Of course, if a top player is playing perfect, it's going to be a difficult match already."

Also, Raducanu insisted that she knew what she "needed to do" going forward.
