It seemed like Jimmy Butler could be a good trade for the Warriors, but the team are saving draft capital for a certain franchise-altering star to become available, according to one insider.
Many front offices around the league are praying for the downfall of the Bucks this season, so that Giannis may consider leaving, and no doubt Golden State are one of those.
Steph Curry, Draymond Green and Steve Kerrs recent comments all aligned, with the bottom line being the franchise isnt going to make any rash trades that ruin its future and ESPNs Ohm Youngmisuk thinks there is a deeper meaning in all of it.
I understand where theyre coming from, which is, and I would say this if I were Mike Dunleavy Jr. obviously, Im not. Hes a much smarter individual than I am but if you only have so many assets, Im holding them for whenever a true superstar that is a franchise-altering becomes available, Youngmisuk said on The Hoop Collective.
In order to land Butler, the Dubs would need to give up plenty of future picks, as well as young developmental players like Jonathan Kuminga and Brandin Podziemski, both of whom the team havent been willing to give up for players like Lauri Markkanen and Paul George.
Youngmisuk went on to explain why he thinks the Warriors are really holding out and why theyre a genuine chance to land the 2019 & 2020 MVP Giannis.
I dont think theres interest in Butler, Youngmisuk said. But if they were to do that, you cant take a swing then if things go bad in Milwaukee with Giannis this summer. And that is why you have to hold on to your assets to make a run at a guy like that if he becomes available.
Because I think Golden State is uniquely positioned for someone like Giannis because of Stephs friendship with Giannis and Giannis having kind of like hinted in the past that the Bay might be intriguing to him with the Warriors. You got to then hold on to your assets for that.
