Eva Lys' dream Australian Open run has come to an end in the round-of-16 after Iga Swiatek ousted the lucky loser 6-0 6-1 in just 59 minutes of play.

After making all the tennis headlines for the past week, the world No. 128 also got a chance to play at Rod Laver Arena for the first time in her career.
But apart from the opening game - when Lys had two break points - the German wasn't able to do much against Swiatek, who started the match by winning the opening nine games and taking a 6-0 3-0 lead.
In the fourth game of the second set, the Australian Open sensation finally managed to get on the board.
However, the No. 2 seed remained laser-focused and claimed another break in the sixth game before serving out for a dominant win in the following game.
During the match, the Pole hit 28 winners and converted 5-of-9 of her break point opportunities.

On the other side, Lys had 15 unforced errors and seven winners and also failed to convert any of her two break points that she had in the first game of the match.
In the Australian Open quarterfinal, Swiatek faces the winner of the match between Daria Kasatkina and Emma Navarro.
Lys may be out but it was 'an insane story' and her life is changed
After making the main draw as a lucky loser very late since Anna Kalinskaya withdrew just 10 minutes before the start of her match, the German made her first Grand Slam round-of-16 - secured breaking into the top-100 for the first time in her career - and also made history by becoming the first lucky loser since 1988 to make the Australian Open round-of-16 as a lucky loser.
I dont know when the realization will kick in, Lys said two days ago.
Its definitely an amazing situation to be in, especially knowing that I was a lucky loser. Its an insane story, how fast it happened. Those days have totally changed my life.
