The 22-year-old Northern Irishman had a great performance at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, finishing T6 with a score of 69 and an 11-under par score. In an interview with the media, McKibbin pointed out that he was satisfied with the game, especially because of the difficult course.
It was a very good week, first strokeplay event of the year on a very difficult golf course and to play this well I am very happy, said McKibbin, as quoted by Irish Golfer.

Yesterday was very hard and the start of the round today was very breezy and the greens were getting firmer and firmer throughout the day.
It was good, its always a hard first week especially with the course being this difficult but its a good score for the week and Im very happy.- he continued.
