Rory McIlroy was close to victory in many tournaments, but when he needs to take the last step, he seems to lose his concentration. Although it does not carry huge importance in tournaments like the last one, Rory had similar problems in the Majors. The Northern Irishman failed to overtake Tyrrell Hatton who held the lead and deservedly celebrated at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic.

Rory McIlroy spoke openly about his performance, Hatton's great performance and the Ryder Cup at the press conference. At one point, the 35-year-old golfer listened to a Sky Sports reporter who revealed to McIlroy that this was his 12th consecutive top 10 finish in this tournament. Rory admitted it's a cool thing.
"That's pretty cool," McIlroy said, as quoted by Golf Magic.
Rory McIlroy on his mistakes
The Northern Irishman is aware of the mistakes he made, but this can only be an important lesson for him. McIlroy was happy with his putting, feeling satisfied with how he played on the final day. The most important thing for an experienced golfer is that he feels good, which can certainly make work easier in the coming weeks. Rory slowly picks up the rhythm, wanting this year to be even more special than the last.

"I had chances, and I was burning the edges.
Felt like I putted pretty well without anything going in and then today, didn't really feel like I played that differently the way I played the last few days.
I just held a couple of putts and made a couple of good up-and-downs when I had to.
I feel like I got progressively better as the week went on, which bodes well for obviously the next few weeks."- he concluded.
McIlroy has many challenges ahead of him. The next tournament on the calendar is the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. McIlroy will also be playing at the TGL, and the question is what can we expect from him.
