Katie Boulter seemingly received some unpleasant and insulting comments following her Australian Open exit so she decided to fire back at trolls in a creative way.
At the opening Grand Slam of the year, the top-ranked British female tennis player defeated Rebecca Marino in her opener before world No. 75 Veronika Kudermetova handed her a 7-6 (3) 2-6 6-2 loss in the second round.
Since Boulter was the favorite to beat the Russian, some bettors presumably lost money by betting on the No. 22 seed.
And whoever is familiar with how it goes in tennis nowadays, a player is subjected to online abuse and usually receives some pretty disgusting comments following a defeat.
"My face when keyboard warriors become experts in how to be a pro tennis player," the 28-year-old captioned her Instagram post.
Boulter receives support from her boyfriend and a fellow British player
In the comment section, the Briton's boyfriend Alex de Minaur presumably imitated one comment that the world No. 25 received.
"Hit the ball in the court. Not that hard," the Australian wrote.
Fellow British player Jodie Burrage also showed some support to the 28-year-old, telling her that she was "amazing."
"Would LOVE to see them try do it, youre amazing girlie," Burrage wrote.
Meanwhile, no one was more disappointed about an early exit than Boulter herself.
For the three-time WTA champion, it was painful to lose a tight second-round contest but she vowed to return stronger and make up for it sometime in the near future.
Obviously losing a match like that hurts, but Im someone thats going to keep showing up. Im going to have my moment, Im sure of it," the world No. 25 said after the Kudermetova loss.
Before the Australian Open, Boulter represented Great Britain at the United Cup, where she won her opening two matches before losing to Iga Swiatek in a tight three-setter.
