Marcus Rashford is reported to be eyeing a return to the Manchester United squad as his hopes of a January move away from Old Trafford begin to fade.

Rashford has not featured in any of United's last nine games across all competitions, usually missing out on a spot in the matchday squad altogether amid public pressure from head coach Ruben Amorim to raise his standards.

There has been significant speculation about moves to a number of sides - AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund have dominated the headlines - but the vast cost of any deal, even a loan, has seen the saga drag out into the final days of the transfer window.

A wave of reports in the English media, including from The Times, stress that Rashford has not downed tools and is now working harder than ever to force his way back into Amorim's thinking, including regular extra training sessions.

The Telegraph add that Rashford has no issues with Amorim and is working to be ready for a recall if the head coach decides to end his exile. Amorim recently claimed Rashford's return to the squad was up to the forward, suggesting the 27-year-old can force his way back into the plans.

Clubs are likely to contiue exploring a potential move for Rashford until the end of the transfer window. Monaco are the latest to be linked, but SPORT once again stress that his desire is to join Barcelona.

It is claimed that Rashford is prepared to wait until the final days of the transfer window for Barcelona to free up the salary needed to get a deal over the line. There is a full agreement on personal terms between player and club but United have not yet been approached.
