The 2025 Australian Open has entered the decisive stages and everyone is waiting to find out who will be the champion of this edition. The ATP calendar is very long and the first Grand Slam of the season represents only an appetizer of a long series of tournaments that will characterize a very important season for several top players.
A few hours ago, the official entry list of the prestigious Doha ATP 500 was published. This event had lost some importance compared to a few years ago, when it was played in January as a preparation for the Happy Slam.
Since it was moved to February, the top players had preferred other events and the organizers of the Doha tournament have tried in every way to recover the old prestige. The only exception was the 2021 edition, in which Roger Federer returned to the ATP tour after a long absence due to a knee injury.
To tell the truth, the Swiss legend's run in Qatar did not last very long as he was defeated in the round of 16 by Nikoloz Basilashvili.
ATP 500 Doha entry list
The 2025 edition on the other hand promises to be truly unforgettable. The Doha tournament has become an ATP 500 and will take place from February 17 to 22. The number 1 seed will be Jannik Sinner, who has chosen to play another tournament in February in addition to Rotterdam (in which he will defend the title won in 2024).
Carlos Alcaraz, who was eliminated by Novak Djokovic in the AO quarterfinals, will also be there. Unlike previous years, the young Spanish champion has chosen not to go to South America to play tournaments on red clay.
Already at the end of last year, the presence of Nole Djokovic in Doha was announced. The 24-time Grand Slam champion has signed a new partnership with Qatar Airways, which is the main sponsor of the tournament.
In addition to these three big names, Daniil Medvedev, Alex de Minaur, Andrey Rublev, Grigor Dimitrov and Stefanos Tsitsipas will also be present.
