Golf fans are skeptical when it comes to injuries to popular golfers like Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa and Scottie Scheffler. Namely, some of the fans reacted via social media, somewhat surprised that golfers who belong to the very top of the golf scene decided to withdraw from several tournaments this year.
ProGolfCritic was one of the first to react via social media, stressing that some of the golfers do not intend to play until the agreement between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf is finalized.
"I had heard unsubstantiated rumours that some top players were going to hold out of tournaments until this deal got done," PGC wrote on X.
Although the PIF and the PGA Tour had a framework agreement in June 2023, things did not move from the deadlock. The leaders of both Tours have been making optimistic statements for several months, but nothing concrete is happening. It is clear that there are some obstacles in the agreement, but is the desire for money and dominance in the golf scene the main obstacle to this agreement? The PGC is skeptical about what's going on in the golf world, especially when we know that the top 4 golfers missed PGA tournaments this year.
"So now Scottie, Rory, Xander & Morikawa have either not played/WDd from 2025 PGAT events.
They are currently 1-2-3-4 in OWGR. Purely coincidental I'm sure."- he wrote.
Colt Knost believes these are false rumors
There is also the other side, which is not an advocate of such theories, believing that such theories have no basis.
CBS golf commentator Colt Knost was one of the first to react, sharing the opinion that these rumors are not true.
Namely, he stressed that Morikawa and Schauffele performed at The Sentry and Sony Open. In addition, he is convinced that Scheffler is injured.
There is a good chance that what Knost is saying is indeed true, but the golf scene has been in such chaos for a few years that any theory would cause astonishment among fans.
