Sepp Straka is the winner of The American Express. The Austrian, with a total of 263 (65 64 64 70, -25) shots, won in La Quinta, California, beating the American Justin Thomas, 2nd with 265 (-23). While Matteo Manassero, making his debut on the 2025 PGA Tour, ranked 43rd with 276 (68 66 72 70, -12). Francesco Molinari, on the other hand, exited at the cut, with 209 (67 70 72, -7).
The event, which was played with a Pro-Am format, earned Straka $1,584,000 out of a total prize pool of $8,800,000. The 31-year-old from Vienna, who was part of the Europe team at the Ryder Cup in Rome, celebrated his third career title on the PGA Tour at his 169th event, after those obtained in 2022 at the Honda Classic and in 2023 at the John Deere. Having moved from 36th to 19th in the world rankings, second in the FedEx Cup, he made 27 birdies in four rounds at The American Express. Another second place, the eighth on the PGA Tour, for Thomas. But the American, after two complicated years, seems to have returned to his best levels. And thanks to this result, which allowed him to collect 959,200 dollars, Thomas is now in tenth place 'all-time' in terms of earnings (60,837,898) on the PGA Tour behind Jason Day.
And now the top American circuit will return to the forefront, from January 22 to 25, with the Farmers Insurance Open. In San Diego, California, Manassero and Chicco Molinari will once again take to the field for Italy.
The Rules of Golf are a set of rules and standard procedures by which the sport of golf should be played. They are jointly written and administered by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, the governing body of golf throughout the world, except in the United States and Mexico, which are governed by the United States Golf Association. An expert committee, made up of members of the R&A and the USGA, oversees and refines the Rules every four years. The latest revision was effective January 1, 2016. Changes to the Rules of Golf generally fall into two main categories: those that improve understanding of the Rules and those that reduce penalties in certain cases to ensure balance. The rulebook, entitled "The Rules of Golf," is published on a regular basis and also includes rules governing amateur status. In Italy, the Federgolf is responsible for supervising competitions by enforcing the rules issued by the R & A, checking that these rules are observed by the Clubs, Associations and their members and managing the resulting sporting justice, protecting their interests abroad.
