Carlos Alcaraz is not a perfect player. His match against Novak Djokovic at the 2025 Australian Open showed the whole world that he can still improve in several aspects. The young Spanish champion finally wanted to get through the quarter-finals at Melbourne Park and was favorites against the Serbian legend, but his performance did not live up to expectations and he was eliminated with many regrets.

During his press conference, the 21-year-old from Murcia admitted that he lost concentration after Nole began to experience an adductor problem and revealed that he had lowered his level allowing his opponent to come back.
The current world number 3 made a very serious mistake against one of the best players ever, who returned to express his best tennis in the third and fourth sets, achieving yet another feat of his glorious career.
Alcaraz was very disappointed
The 4-time Grand Slam champion left the court very sad and did not hide all his frustration with the way he handled the match. The former world No.1 will have to work even harder with his team to iron out these small details and become an even better player.
Everyone has the feeling that the Spanish champion still has some weaknesses on a tactical and mental level.

Patrick McEnroe analyzing the match explained what Carlitos is still missing: "Alcaraz is enormously talented, perhaps he is the greatest talent of his generation. His game is really very spectacular and he is able to find winners from every area of the court. However, he is still not a real fighter and this is noticeable in some situations. That's why he allowed Nole to come back."
The 21-year-old from Murcia has time to achieve excellent results again this season and will participate in two tournaments in February, the prestigious ATP 500 in Rotterdam and Doha (for the first time in his career). The Spaniard will play an exhibition match with Frances Tiafoe in early March, before the Masters 1000 in Indian Wells and Miami.
