The Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines attracts a lot of attention from golf fans, although this year's edition will likely be less competitive than previous ones. Reason? The introduction of prestigious events has spoiled the plans for the hosts of this tournament, and many are worried about the state of this tournament.

This is an event with a great history, where names like Tiger Woods have celebrated many times (even 7).
Charley Hoffman, a famous PGA Tour golfer, will play at the Farmers this year, but he is worried about the tournament, thinking that people have taken some things for granted. Tiger Woods has played in this tournament for years, but his absence leaves a big void.
The answer is I think the community of San Diego took for granted that Tiger Woods virtually showed up every single year at this event, the best player in the world, and competed to win almost every time he played here, Hoffman said, as quoted by Wjtv.
We took it for granted. Now a lot of these tournaments, if you had Tiger Woods two or three times through the history of the event, they would be happy. We had Tiger Woods each and every year and we may have taken it for granted.

Jason Day reacts
Jason Day, the famous Australian golfer, used to excel at this competition, winning it twice. The 37-year-old believes that Tiger's arrival at this tournament was a crucial thing, especially when we know how many times he celebrated.
Back when Tiger was playing and winning, what, eight of these, it was the event to come to because of not only how big the tournament was and what Tiger brought to the event as well, the crowds were huge, he said.
Hoffman believes that the PGA Tour schedule could look a little different, moving the western tour, and playing Florida earlier. In addition, he would move the tournaments on the west coast to the summer. Although Torrey Pines is a specific place, the 48-year-old golfer believes that the challenges that Torrey presents are really great.
