Novak Djokovic's victory over Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals of theAustralian Open 2025 has shown - and it was not a given, given the last year below the usual levels for the Serbian champion - that Nole is still competitive and hunting for other titles. A result that means a lot, but not for the ranking.

On the other hand, the match played on the hard-court of the Rod Laver Arena has shown some fragilities of the 21-year-old Spaniard, unable to bite the prey and clearly direct the match after the physical problems suffered by the 24-time Slam champion.
The result between Nole and Carlitos does not affect the ATP ranking, which currently does not present any major shocks, at least in the top 10.
With the elimination in the quarterfinals of the Australian Major, the 21-year-old from Murcia confirms the same result obtained last year, when his run stopped in the same round but against Alexander Zverev.

The same German tennis player, who beat Tommy Paul in the quarterfinals, at least equals last year's result, maintaining a firm second position in the ranking. Carlitos instead confirms the third position in the ranking, 600 points behind Zverev but with an advantage of almost 2000 points over the first pursuer, Taylor Fritz.
As for Djokovic, the same goes for the Serbian as for the other two opponents. Nole reached the semifinals as in the previous edition and will fight for a place in the final with Zverev.
The 37-year-old from Belgrade has gained a position on Medvedev in the ranking and is currently in sixth place. If he reaches the final, he would overtake Ruud, while if he wins the title, he would climb the rankings to fourth place, overtaking Taylor Fritz.

We recall Djokovic is looking for his 38th Major final, his 11th in Melbourne. The Serbian champion is also looking for his 100th career title, as well as his 25th Slam, which would allow him to definitively surpass Margaret Court (also at 24 Majors - ed.), becoming the most successful tennis player ever in the history of both men's singles and women's singles, in the Slams. Nolecompleted last year the Career Golden Slam, after winning the Olympic Gold Medal in Paris.
