Nick Kyrgios was left in absolute disbelief after reading one comment about Alex de Minaur's game that he even declared it "the worst take ever."

At this year's Australian Open, the top-ranked Australian male tennis player reached his first quarterfinal at Melbourne Park before Jannik Sinner ended his campaign with a routine 6-3 6-2 6-1 win.

After the match, one critic had some pretty disparaging words about the current world No. 8, stating that the 25-year-old would be ranked outside the top-100 if he was playing in any other era than this.

"The fact De Minaur is 8th seed, just shows how poor the quality of tennis is these days. Bloke wouldnt be top 100 any other era. Genuinely average player," the post read.

"This could be the worst take Ive ever seen," Kyrgios wrote in his response to the post.

Fellow Australian player Thanasi Kokkinakis agreed: "Theres been some bad ones but this is right up there."

De Minaur has been one of the most consistent players over the last year

Looking at the Australian's results over the last year, it is clear that he deserves to be where he is now.

Last year, the 25-year-old won Acapulco and s'-Hertogenbosch - finished as runner-up in Rotterdam - and made three consecutive Grand Slam semifinals at the French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open.

Also, he cracked the top-10 for the first time in his career last January.

Since then, de Minaur has mostly been ranked inside the top-10 but there were a couple of weeks last season that he spent ranked at No. 11.

The Australian tennis star maybe still doesn't have a Grand Slam or a Masters title in his collection but he has been playing well consistently and he is respected among rivals.
