Anirban Lahiri is not happy with his performances at LIV Golf last year, aware that he could have done better. In an interview with the media, the 36-year-old golfer pointed out that the season behind him was disappointing, admitting that he did not fulfill any of his goals.

Its been a disappointing season for me. I set high standards for myself and I measure myself in terms of consistency. I dont think I could meet any of my goals last year, he said, as quoted by Hindustan Times.

The 36-year-old golfer could not hide his frustrations, considering that he was close to success in many moments, but as if this experienced golfer lacked concentration in key moments. Despite this, Anirban does not want to spread pessimism, as he believe that he was not as bad as his results suggest.

Its been heartbreaking and frustrating at times. I think 2024 was full of bad memories, but I dont think I played bad golf. There were a lot of moments that I didnt take advantage of, he said.

Aware that he had to make changes, Lahiri decided to train with Vijay Divech and also had sessions with Nimrod Brockman, a mental performance coach. His goal is to achieve a success in India, where the International Series starts next week. The 36-year-old hopes that playing on home soil will be important for him, proud that India is the host of such big tournaments.

Its not a vacation, he said, but golfers all over the world are excited to come to India. So far, India was just an exotic, mystical location for them but now they are looking at us a golf destination. Thats a very significant change.

Lahiri was someone who fought for India to host the LIV tournament. In the beginning it was difficult, there were many obstacles on the way, but by persuading his colleagues, he managed to achieve his goal. Many famous faces will play in the tournament in India.

It was damn tough, to begin with. The conversations began about six months back with DLF following which I went about convincing the players. I dont think I have done a great job of it, because if I had, we would have another 25 internationals coming here considering the amount of people I spoke to, he says.
