It turns out WWE Saturday Nights Main Event was cutting it close behind the scenes.
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, the show was initially looking like it would go over time, but somehow managed to wrap up right at the top of the hour. On top of that, rehearsals were reportedly limited, adding even more chaos to the production.
With WWE pulling off a live network special, these types of close calls arent uncommon, but its always a risk when things arent fully prepped. While the show ultimately finished on time, the lack of rehearsals might explain some of the nights unexpected hiccups, including the bizarre Spanish language feed issue that left NBC viewers confused.
At the end of the day, WWE got the job done, but next time, they might want to tighten things up before going live on network television.
Live TV is always a gamble, and WWE Saturday Nights Main Event was a perfect example of how things can get messy behind the scenes. With limited rehearsals and a tight race to stay on schedule, its a miracle the show wrapped up on time. But lets be realthis is WWE, and pulling off chaos at the last second is kind of their thing.
