Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev faced each other in the final of the 2025 Australian Open yesterday. The world No.1 prevailed in three sets onthe iconic Rod Laver Arena and won his second title in a row at Melbourne Park, confirming that he has no opponents capable of stopping him on the hard courts right now.

The German ace left the court very sad and disconsolate yesterday, having ascertained the objective superiority of the Italian champion and having admitted that he was not yet good enough to be able to win a Grand Slam title.

There is no doubt that the champion from Hamburg has made considerable progress in recent months and that his attitude has improved in moments of greatest tension, but several aspects still need to be improved in order to reach the level of world number 1.

In particular in the final of the 2025 AO Sascha struggled especially with his forehand and made many mistakes when Jannik forced him to reach the ball out. The current world number 2 ended the match without having even a break point available, a fact that should alarm Zverev and lead him to reflect.

Alexander was very sad during the ceremony and Sinner himself consoled him by wishing him the best for the future.

Sinner and Zverev travel together

Through a photo published by the well-known journalist Jos Morgado, we learned that Sascha and Jannik shared the same flight back from Melbourne to Dubai. Both will land in the famous city of the United Arab Emirates, before each heading to their destination.

Before taking flight, the 3-time Grand Slam champion announced that he will not participate in the Rotterdam ATP 500 next week. Having won the title in the Netherlands last year, the Italian will lose 500 points but will be able to recover that haul in Doha in the second half of February.

Zverev - on the other hand - has opted for a different schedule in 2025. The German player will participate in red clay tournaments in South America before the Masters 1000 in Indian Wells and Miami.
