Since winning the AEW World Title from Bryan Danielson at AEW WrestleDream, Jon Moxley has taken an unconventional approach to his reign. The belt, first kept in a black bag, is now locked away in a briefcase carried by Marina Shafir.

Speaking with Renee Paquette on Close-Up, Moxley explained why he doesnt feel the need to parade the championship around. When asked about his decision, he delivered a fiery response: Why do you need to see it? What do you need to see? You want to get a look at it and take a picture? This a petting zoo? Why do you need to see it? You dont know anything about it. You dont understand it at any level.

Moxley didnt stop there, doubling down on his belief that the title is more than just a physical object: I am the AEW World Championship. I am the living definition of that championship. You want to see it, its right here [points to himself]. Take a look at it. This is the AEW World Championship. It lives here. Its not something you win, its not something you hold, its not something you show off or hold over your head or pose a picture with. It lives in here [points to Claudios chest].

The reigning champion revealed that his mission goes beyond defending the titlehes building a legacy through the people around him. Im trying to build a thousand Jon Moxleys and backfill them behind me, so I will put them through what I went through and worse. That might not be pretty. That might be ugly and uncomfortable, but thats the only way I know how to do it.

Moxley made it clear that anyone wanting to dethrone him will have to face an uphill battle. You want to be the AEW World Champion? All you have to do is beat me. Pin me. Its that easy. It takes three seconds. A very simple formula. How are any of you going to do that? Are you building an army right now? I am. Every single day. Im building an army. Much bigger than what you see here. Much more powerful than what you see here.

Moxleys last title defense was against Powerhouse Hobbs at AEW Dynamite Maximum Carnage, but with his current mindset, every day seems to be a battle for the belt in his eyes.
