WWE is rolling at the Royal Rumble on the main roster in a big way, but NXT also brought a big show for their January 28 episode. This included a Womens North American Title match, as Fallon Henley faced a big challenger.
The NXT Womens North American Championship was on the line as Fallon Henley took on Shotzi. This match had an interesting backstory, because there is no shortage of challengers for her title.
This match kicked off the second hour of the show this week. They battled through a commercial break in a back-and-forth contest. Of course, Shotzi was the overwhelming favorite in Atlanta.
Shotzi threw everything she had at Fallon Henley, but the champion kept kicking out. Fallon fought back, but the Ballsy Blackheart had no shortage of tricks up her sleeve. Finally, Fallon Henley nailed her Hoe Down finisher and retained the title.
When the match was over, Stephanie Vaquer came out, and they announced that she will get a shot at the title next. That contest will go down at Vengeance Day on February 15.
Stephanie Vaquer was actually the one who won a #1 contender match for the Womens North American Championship. Then, Shotzi was able to get that title match out from under Vaquer by beating her in a singles match.
We will have to see what happens next in the NXT Womens Division. Things are certainly taking an interesting turn as we round the corner toward their next premium live event.
