According to Fightful Select, talk of this years Royal Rumble matches featuring 40 participants is completely false.
There was talk of WWE wrestlers mentioning 40 person Royal Rumbles, the report stated. This is not the plan and hasnt been discussed or planned.
This clarification comes amid growing excitement for Saturdays event at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. Both the Mens and Womens Royal Rumble matches are shaping up to be star-studded affairs, with big names like John Cena, CM Punk, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Charlotte Flair, and Bianca Belair already confirmed.
In related news, there has also been questions about how WWE plans to fit NXT talent into the Rumble.
