Madison Keys funnily shared that Bjorn Fratangelo was hesitant to coach her because he felt "uncomfortable" telling her what to do but she "forced" him to embrace the role.

Last November, the two American tennis players tied the knot after dating for seven years.

And two months later, Keys landed her maiden Grand Slam title at the age of 29 after beating Aryna Sabalenka in a thriller Australian Open final.

Fratangelo, who last played at a Challenger tournament in 2023 August, has been helping the WTA No. 7 for the past year and a half.

But although the 31-year-old now serves as a coach to his wife, the former world No. 99 still hasn't officially retired from pro tennis.

Keys: I basically had to force Fratangelo to come with me

"Things have been good, yeah! I mean, being married so far has been a breeze. It's been amazing," the reigning Australian Open winner said on Good Morning America.

"He started helping me about a year and a half, two years ago, and he really didn't want to. He said he was very uncomfortable with telling me what to do and did not want to do it. I basically had to force him to come with me."

En route to winning the Happy Slam, Keys pulled off several really big wins as she also beat Iga Swiatek, Elena Rybakina, Elina Svitolina and Danielle Collins.

And one thing that makes it special is that she was able to achieve her biggest tennis goal with her husband.

"And then, it's just been really nice. He played when we first started dating, we would spend time together and see each other. It's been amazing," the world No. 7 said.

"But to be able to now achieve this goal, we were able to do it together, which is perfect."
