Jackie Redmond is killing it as a backstage correspondent on Monday Night RAW, but could she ever make the jump to the commentary booth? While she has zero interest in calling hockey games, she admitted that stepping into WWE commentary alongside Michael Cole and Pat McAfee could be a fun challenge.
Speaking on the Lightweights Podcast, Redmond made it clear that hockey play-by-play just isnt her thing. Its just not my thing, to be honest. Play-by-play in hockey, first of all, its so fast. I have so much respect for everyone that does it, she said. If I was going to do anything in hockey, I would want to do color [commentary], because thats more kind of my vibe. But its just not something that Ive ever really dreamt about doing or wanted to do.
While she respects the women whove taken on the role, shes not looking to force anything. Im not going to do something just because someone offers me the chance to do it. It has to come from a genuine place, otherwise, Im gonna fall flat on my faceI just cant fake it, she added.
WWE, however, is a different story. Redmond admitted that the idea of calling RAW or SmackDown is a lot more intriguing. Now, WWE commentating, I think its a different ball game. Its a lot more storytelling. I think that could be interesting. I think it could be fun, she said. I dont know that they would ever be dumb enough to put me on commentary, but, I mean, it would be fun. Youd be hanging out with Cole and Pat every week. Thatd be so cool.
For now, Redmond seems happy sticking to backstage interviews, but if WWE ever gives her the headset, fans could see a whole new side of her on commentary.
