The worlds oldest football league competition, Englands Football League, kicked off in 1888; gradually, other nations followed suit.

Argentina: St. Andrews and Old Caledonians (shared)

Both founded by Scottish immigrants in Argentina, St. Andrews Athletic Club and Old Caledonians Football Club shared the inaugural official Argentine title in 1891 (although St. Andrews won a subsequent play-off to decide who actually got the medals).
