The great anticipation that had grown around Nick Kyrgios' come back to the court - whith the Australian who had been talked about so much in the previous months for some off-court polemics towards his colleagues - was decidedly disappointed by the performances not up to par of the Wimbledon 2022 finalist, obviously due to the many months away from the court and the new physical problem.

An injury that has therefore forced Kyrgios to a new stop. However, the former world number 13, on his Instagram profile, has communicated to his fans the date of his return to the court.

The Australian tennis player, through a stories, announced that he is working to return at the beginning of March, for the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.

"To my fans! I appreciate all the support - I will go home to train and my next event will be Indian Wells, it was a bad time considering I was fighting against a 4 cm abdominal laceration/strain at the Australian Open. I will do everything I can to recover and prepare for the next events," he wrote.

As said, Kyrgios' 2025 started off rather negatively, with first-round defeats at the Brisbane International against Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard and at the Australian Open against British Jacob Fearnley.

To the defeats was added yet another physical problem, with the abdominal tear suffered by Nick during his first outing of the season and then dragged on during the match at the Australian Major. In short, two appearances, two defeats and the new injury. It was a rather complicated return for the Australian on the Tour, after more than a year and a half of absence.

We recall Kyrgios has spent the last few months repeatedly attacking Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek, in relation to the two doping issues involving the Italian and the Polish respectively. Certainly his come back on hard-courts will mean a lot, considering that this could be the last season he plays in men's singles. Losing a singles player like Nick would be a serious blow for men's tennis, because - for better or for worse - he is a player that tennis really needs.
