In 2022, the 33rd-ranked WTA star and the ATP world No. 75 started dating and it didn't take long before they became one of the most popular tennis couples on the Tour.
Already in 2023 September, the 24-year-old Kazakh player proposed to the 23-year-old and she said yes.
Shortly after the engagement, the wedding also came as Potapova and Shevchenko tied the knot in December of that year.
But during the summer, fans noticed that the WTA star removed their photos from her Instagram account and that she also wasn't following him anymore on social media.
And in November, the Russian confirmed the split through a social media announcement.
I made some shockingly big decisions at the end of the year, she told Russian tennis journalist Sofya Tartakova.
