WWE SmackDowns January 31 episode took place at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. We are less than one day away from the 2025 Royal Rumble, and there was a lot that they needed to get to in the three-hour show.
Joe Tessitore interviewed Kevin Owens during SmackDown this week. That gave Owens one more opportunity to put the finishing touches on his story with Cody Rhodes as they head toward the 2025 Royal Rumble.
This segment kicked off SmackDown this week, and Kevin Owens had a lot to say as usual. Joe Tessitore started out the segment by asking Owens what people are not understanding in this storyline with himself and Cody, since Owens is determined that fans just arent seeing his point.
As the two title belts hung between them, Kevin Owens responded to Joe Tessitore. He called him a Cody Rhodes fan boy, and he threw even more shade. Tessitore tried to apologize, and Owens told him that he can shove it up your ass. Owens then grabbed the Winged Eagle Championship off the hook, while saying it was the only reason he took the interview.
Then, before Kevin Owens could leave, CM Punk came out. The Second City Savior took the ring, and Owens stuck around to hear what he had to say. Fans chanted for CM Punk and booed Kevin Owens before chanting, holy sh*t!
Kevin Owens asked CM Punk if he can help him. Then Punk said no, but he was only out to say hes sorry for interrupting him. Then Punk said that he was sorry if Kevin Owens thought that Punk was going to look past him onto WrestleMania. Punk said after he wins the Royal Rumble, and if Kevin Owens beats Cody Rhodes, then the main event of WrestleMania could be Kevin Owens vs CM Punk. That was Punks way of telling Owens that he will be coming for him.
Kevin Owens then responded to say that he liked the sound of beating CM Punk at WrestleMania. Fans booed this idea, but they were all about CM Punk going to the showcase of the immortals. Then Kevin Owens said that he hopes Punk doesnt win the rumble, because he wants Punk to hate the fact that he never main evented a WrestleMania event, something that Kevin has done twice.
CM Punk then shaded Kevin Owens for losing so many matches at the Royal Rumble. He also brought up how Owens lost to Logan Paul once. That was quite a reply, and fans in Indianapolis were quick to cheer the dig. Then when CM Punk told Kevin Owens not to leave, he departed to a sea of booes from fans.
It looks like CM Punk gave away his plans for when he wins the 2025 Royal Rumble match. He will go after the Undisputed WWE Championship, no matter who is holding the title. Now, CM Punk just needs to win the Royal Rumble match.
