The WWE Royal Rumble premium live event at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis is shaping up to be one of the biggest shows in company history, and the numbers prove it. With just hours to go before the event kicks off, ticket sales have reached staggering levels.
According to WrestleTix, as of the morning of February 1, WWE has distributed a massive 66,120 tickets, with only 570 remaining. The stadiums current setup allows for 66,690 fans, meaning the event is close to a complete sellout.
To accommodate the overwhelming demand, WWE has opened up additional seating sections. Full availability has now been added to sections 401-403 and 450-453, while section 646 has expanded with extra rows that were previously unavailable.
For comparison, last years Royal Rumble at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, drew 46,082 fansmeaning this years event has already surpassed it by a landslide.
Earlier reports indicated that WWE is on track to break the record for the largest non-WrestleMania live gate in wrestling history. The events resale market remains red-hot, with ticket prices holding firm at a minimum of $181making it one of the most expensive shows in wrestling history to get into.
With the hype surrounding this years Royal Rumble at an all-time high, WWEs hot streak shows no signs of slowing down. The only question left iswill this event go down as the biggest Royal Rumble of all time?
