John Cena is locked in for the Royal Rumble, and hes letting the world know. Just hours before the event, the 16-time world champion took to Twitter to fire off a message hyping up one of WWEs biggest nights.
No day quite like #RoyalRumble. The countdown to THE countdown begins! The road to #WrestleMania begins TONIGHT!!! Cena wrote, making it clear hes ready for the chaos that awaits.
Cenas involvement in this years Rumble has been one of the most talked-about storylines heading into the event, especially since hes been completely absent from WWE TV in the weeks leading up to the match. While many expected him to make regular appearances during his farewell tour, hes instead been in Budapest, Hungary, filming Matchbox, a live-action movie inspired by the classic toy car brand.
The film, backed by Skydance, Apple, and Mattel Films, is part of Mattels major push into Hollywood after the success of Barbie in 2023. Cena was first linked to the project in September 2024, and production has been in full swing ever since. With the movie keeping him overseas, Cena hasnt been able to build momentum on WWE programming before his final Royal Rumble appearance.
Despite being away from the ring, Cenas history in the Rumble speaks for itself. Hes a two-time winner, pulling off one of the most legendary returns in WWE history at Madison Square Garden in 2008, and then securing another victory in 2013. Now, as he gears up for his last-ever Rumble, the stakes couldnt be higher.
With top stars like CM Punk, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Drew McIntyre also in the mix, Cena will have to overcome serious competition if he wants to book his spot in the WrestleMania main event one more time.
The countdown is on, but will Cena pull off one final Royal Rumble miracle, or is this the beginning of the end for his in-ring career?
