Patrick Dorgu says he is "incredibly proud" to call himself a Manchester United player after confirmation of his move from Lecce.
The 20-year-old has penned a five-and-a-half-year contract at Old Trafford with the option of an additional year, and becomes Ruben Amorim's first signing as United head coach.
Dorgu has been signed primarily to play as a left wing-back for United but he can also play on the opposite flank and in advanced areas. His switch was confirmed on Sunday after the completion of a medical, which had been delayed as he awaited clearance to fly to England.
"I am incredibly proud to be able to call myself a Manchester United player; this is a very special day for my whole family," the Danish international told club channels.
"I cannot wait to work with Ruben Amorim; his vision for this team and the future of the club is incredibly exciting. There is a clear plan set out for my development, and I feel that Manchester United is the perfect place to fulfil my potential and complete my huge ambitions."
United's technical director, Jason Wilcox, said of the club's new recruit: "Patrick is a really exciting talent; his strong defensive and attacking attributes, adaptability and work-rate will make him a key part of Ruben Amorims squad.
"Patrick has had a superb start to his career, and at the age of just 20, we know he will continue to develop under the guidance of our excellent coaching team.
"Patrick is the latest exciting young player that we have brought into the club. We believe that each of these talents has world-class potential and the ability to play a key role in achieving the success that everyone at Manchester United is striving for.
Dorgu's shirt number at United has not yet been confirmed and he won't be part of the matchday squad for Sunday's Premier League clash with Crystal Palace. He'll provide competition for places for Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui - both versatile players who can play on both flanks - as well as the perenially injured Luke Shaw, who will slowly reintegrated into the fold by Amorim once ready.
