Alexa Bliss shocked the WWE Universe with her surprise return at the 2025 Royal Rumble, but now, reports are emerging that her comeback was more than just unexpectedit was a carefully orchestrated swerve by WWE.
Entering at #21, Bliss received a thunderous reaction from the crowd, marking her first match since her Raw Womens Championship loss to Bianca Belair at Royal Rumble 2023. During her entrance, Michael Cole even took a shot at online rumors, sarcastically saying, I thought the internet said she wasnt coming back.
For weeks, reports from PWInsider and Dave Meltzer suggested that Bliss wasnt in Indianapolis and that WWE and Bliss were far apart in contract negotiations. However, speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer now claims that sources within WWE confirmed that Bliss has indeed signed a new contractbut he isnt entirely buying the last-minute deal story WWE is pushing.
Meltzer explained: I am told that the Alexa Bliss thing was a late negotiation. I dont believe that because its pro wrestling. My belief is that they were pulling a swerve.
He went on to detail that even WWE office staff and higher-ups were reportedly left in the dark about Bliss return, adding: It was people in the office they fooled too, and high-up.
Whether WWE intentionally misled insiders or if Bliss contract really was finalized at the last second, one thing is certainshes back, and her WWE future is secure.
With Bliss officially returning to in-ring action, the big question now iswhats next for her in WWE, and will she immediately jump into title contention?
