Naomi Broady says the people who think Emma Raducanu's US Open victory was nothing but luck simply "don't understand tennis" as the former British tennis player insists that pulling off what the 22-year-old did could never be a fluke.

Three and a half years ago, the current world No. 56 wrote tennis history when she became the first-ever qualifier to win a Grand Slam.
During that run, the Briton won a total of 10 matches - three qualifying and seven main draw - and all of her wins impressively came in straight sets.
Since then, Raducanu hasn't lifted any trophies - and because there was so much attention on her - she also became one of the most criticized and scrutinized players on the Tour.
And one of the nastiest labels she has received is the one claiming that she is "a one-Slam wonder" who will never again come close to doing anything big.
Broady: People who say that about Raducanu don't understand tennis
People who have that attitude and say Emma got lucky when we won the US Open dont understand tennis, the 34-year-old told Tennis365

You hear them say she is a one-Slam wonder and it was a fluke that she won the US Open.
If you understand tennis, you will know that is not possible. You cant come through qualifying, win seven matches without dropping a set and win a Grand Slam by luck.
She has the level and she needs to get back there and its incredibly difficult not to look at those articles online and get dragged into the negativity."
In the same interview, Broady noted that Raducanu probably made her circle smaller because she wanted to "have that protection" around her.
Also, the former British player added that the 22-year-old "has the talent" and that she will eventually get to where she wants to be with her career.
Meanwhile, Raducanu is playing the Abu Dhabi Open as a wildcard, where she meets Marketa Vondrousova in the first round.
