Daniil Medvedev parted ways with Gilles Simon after an early Australian Open exit. The Russian added the Frenchman to his coaching staff a year ago, with Simon working alongsideMedvedev's main coach,Gilles Cervara.

Daniil learned a lot from the experienced ex-player, but the results were not there! Thus, the former world no. 1 ended their collaboration ahead of the ATP 500 event in Rotterdam. The Russian will kick off his campaign against Stan Wawrinka.

World no. 7 has not won an ATP title since Rome in May 2023! Daniil's best result with Gilles in his team was the Indian Wells final last March. He also competed in the Wimbledon semi-final and the US Open quarter-final.

The former Major champion wrapped up the previous season in the top-5 but lacked titles. The Russian fell to Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner in Beijing and Shanghai before suffering an early loss at the Paris Masters. Daniil entered the ATP Finals as world no. 4.

He experienced two losses and failed to reach the semi-final. The former world no. 1 did not enjoy the best start to the 2025 season either! Last year's Australian Open finalist barely passed the first round in Melbourne.

He fell in the second round to the young American Learnen Tien after a thriller, leaving one of his favorite tournaments much earlier than expected. Daniilwill seek a deep run in Rotterdam this week.

"Gilles joined our team in February 2024. While it was a good experience, it did not go as I had hoped, especially regarding results. There were many good things in our collaboration with Gilles. However, we did not win titles, especially big ones. I have learned much about tennis from him, and I'm sure all this will help me," Daniil Medvedev said.
