There were many expectations for Nick Kyrgios' return to the court after almost two years of absence. The Australian ace had various injuries from the beginning of 2023 until the beginning of this season, particularly to his elbow and knee, which put the rest of his career at serious risk.

The 2022 Wimbledon Championships finalist has confided that he was very close to retiring and that he will probably never return to top form, but he wants to give himself one last chance to achieve some prestigious results on the ATP tour.
The start of 2025 has not been particularly bright. The player from Canberra was prematurely eliminated both at the Brisbane International in which he also played doubles together with his friend Novak Djokovic and at the Australian Open, where he seemed very far from an acceptable condition.
Nick had to admit his current limitations and promised that he will try to be in better shape at the Wimbledon Championships, which is the Grand Slam tournament where his game is most effective and where he reached the final three years ago.

Kyrgios will play in California
A few hours ago, it was announced that Kyrgios will participate in the 'BNP Paribas Open' in Indian Wells the first Masters 1000 of the season which will take place in California from March 5 to 16.
The former world number 13 will be able to play this tournament thanks to the 'protected ranking', unless he is granted a wild card by the organizers.
The Australian who has plummeted to number 1092 in the ATP ranking has revealed that he will probably no longer play singles in 2026 and that he hopes to end his career on his own terms with some highs in 2025.
Nick has a decent feeling for the Indian Wells Masters 1000, where he reached the quarterfinals in 2017 and 2022.

The feeling is that Kyrgios needs to recover an acceptable physical condition if he wants to fight for ambitious goals, otherwise the last part of his career risks turning into a real ordeal.
