Just when you thought this trade deadline couldnt get any juicier, the name Kevin Durant has now been thrown in the mix.
The latest from Sports Illustrateds Chris Mannix:
The Warriors are indeed serious about reuniting with Kevin Durant, sources told SI, he said on X. And with efforts to acquire Jimmy Butler stalled rival execs believe the Suns are strongly considering Durant deals before the deadline.
It seems KD is also being informed about the business being conducted, Jake Fischer reports, though he doesnt think KD will actually get traded.
Phoenix, entering Mondays business, continued to signal that it does not plan to move Durant before the deadline, sources said, but the Suns are believed to be listening at the very least to various teams pitches for the 35-year-old scoring legend, Fischer said. Durant, meanwhile, is said to be aware of all this.
The Warriors are REALLY wanting to get something going, since theyre like a teenager texting their ex again.
The Athletics Anthony Slater confirmed they are in fact, desperate.
[The Warriors] are surveying, theyre canvassing and, to a degree, yes they are desperate, Slater said on 9.57 The Game.
As well as being desperate, Golden State look to also be smoking their own special brand of somrthing as it seems there is a pipe dream being floated.
Sources say the most ambitious idea being tossed around among Golden States decision-makers: Is there any feasible pathway for the Warriors to pull off the dreamiest of outcomes and find a way to bring both James and Durant to The Bay?, Fischer said.
The Warriors must be getting FOMO after seeing all the crazy trades over the last few days.
But after passing on players like Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic, they look to be missing the window of opportunity in real time.
