Rory McIlroy became only the third golfer to win at least 27 times on the PGA Tour in the last 30 years.
In an interview with the media, the Northern Irishman admitted that his success is impressive, especially when he knows that he is not playing a full schedule on the PGA Tour.
He equaled Phil Mickelson's record, and together with Woods, he joins the club of players who have managed to do such a feat.
Getting to that number (27 wins) is really cool. I think for me it's even more meaningful that I don't really play a full, full schedule on the PGA Tour either. I spend my time between here and the DP World Tour. Yeah, I think I'm up over 40 or 40 worldwide wins, which is a pretty cool number. Yeah, absolutely, 27 is a cool number on the PGA Tour. Hopefully I keep adding to that and break a 30 barrier at some point this year and keep going from there.- he said, as quoted by Sportskeeda.

Lowry was a threat to him
The 35-year-old golfer had a fight with Shane Lowry, but an eagle and five birdies in the final round of 66 to finish 21 under par were enough for the winner. Although Lowry was breathing down his neck, the Northern Irishman did not allow anyone to spoil his plans.
Rory admitted that he had a great week behind himself, for a number of reasons. The popular golfer believes this start gives him optimism for the future, expecting the coming weeks to do the same for him.
It will be interesting to follow his progress this season. Can Rory dethrone Scheffler and assume the leadership position? It will be difficult, but not impossible.
