Jim Smallman isnt wasting any time in his new role as WWEs International Talent Scout. After stepping down from his position as Senior Writer/Producer for NXT to return home to the UK, Smallman hit the ground running, traveling across the independent wrestling scene in search of the next big WWE stars.
Taking to Instagram, Smallman gave fans a glimpse into his scouting journey so far, revealing that hes already made several stops. Really enjoying the first few trips of my new job as International Talent Scout for WWE, he wrote. So far, Ive been to Liverpool, Wigan, Glenrothes, Glasgow, and Manchester. Next up, Ill be in London before heading to Pisa.
Smallmans return to the UK was driven by his desire to be closer to family, something he made clear when he announced his departure from NXTs creative team. Its impossible to be a good dad from 4000 miles away, he previously explained. Its time to head home and make up for lost time.
Despite leaving WWEs creative department, Smallman made it clear that he wasnt stepping away from the company entirely. Instead, his focus has shifted to scouting talent for WWEs global expansion, a move that comes at a time when every WWE show is now streaming on Netflix in Europe.
His travels have taken him to some of the UKs most respected independent promotions, and he made sure to show appreciation for those who welcomed him along the way. Its wonderful to watch independent wrestling and see talent who might make it to Raw, SmackDown, or NXT one day.
With WWE always looking for the next breakout star, Smallmans scouting trips are sure to be crucial in shaping the future of the companys talent roster.
