Simona Halep may not be working with Darren Cahill anymore but she still has the highest possible opinion about him as the former world No. 1 declared the Australian "the best coach" in tennis at the moment.

For nearly the past three years, Cahill has been working with Jannik Sinner and there is no much need to talk about the progression the 23-year-old has made since.

But it is worth mentioning that the Italian has won three Grand Slams over the last 13 months - landed the ATP Finals title - and has been the top-ranked player in the men's game since June.

Before the Sinner gig, the Australian coach also guided Halep to two Grand Slam wins and the world No. 1 ranking on the WTA Tour during their six-year partnership.

"I say this with full conviction Darren Cahill is the best coach at the moment, the 2019 Wimbledon winner told Romanian publication Tikitaka.

Halep had a similar reaction to Sinner's Australian Open triumph

After the ATP world No. 1 defeated Alexander Zverev to successfully defend his Australian Open title, the Romanian issued a reaction.

Meanwhile, Halepretired after losing 1-6 1-6 to Lucia Bronzetti in the Cluj-Napoca first round.

"Tonight, I dont know if its with joy or sadness, I think both feelings are trying me but Im making this decision with my soul," the former world No. 1 said in her post-matchinterview.

"Ive always been realistic with myself and with my body.

"Where I probably was, its very hard to get there and I know what it means to get there. Thats why I wanted to come here today in Cluj to play in front of you and say goodbye."

Since returning from a doping ban, Halep started experiencing major issues with her knee.

Recently, she was told by her doctors that it was a serious injury and she realized that it just wasn't worth continuing her career.
