The Jimmy Butler trade saga is finally over. He didnt get to go the Suns, but the Warriors are certainly not a bad back up option.

It seems as though Jimmy was the Warriors back up option, too.

Rumors started to come hard and fast about the Warriors moving to bring Kevin Durant back to the Bay.

Less than 24 hours ago, Durant emerged as Golden States main priority ahead of the deadline.

But, when it was revealed that Durants reaction to a potential Warriors reunion was, What? No. I dont wanna go back there, the team then turned its full attention to Butler, who earlier in the week reportedly ended talks with the Dubs.

The Heats Jimmy Butler has communicated to the Warriors that hes unwilling to sign an extension there & therefore trade talks to send him to Golden State have ended for now, sources told ESPN, Brian Windhorst said on Monday.

However, once Shams broke the news about the Warriors trading for Jimmy, it wasnt long until he also announced that the six-time All-Star did, in fact, sign a new two year, $121 million extension with the franchise through to 2026-27.

This means hes now guaranteed over $424M in his NBA career. A HUGE number for a player who has never won a chip.

After seeing Steph Curry suffer through most of the season, hes finally got the help he needs to try and get the Warriors back on track and win another chip.

The way that teams described the Warriors to me over the last few weeks was thirsty, Chris Haynes said on NBATV. They were thirsty to bring in another star to pair with Stephen Curry.

One very interesting aspect will be the Jimmy-Draymond Green combination.

As we know, both Butler and Green have very big personalities, so they could end up clashing, however on the court they should provide some solid defense.

The trade seems be extremely fluid, since Shams reported that Kyle Anderson wont be going Toronto in the deal. Before then the details were as follows.

Warriors get:
Jimmy Butler

Heat get:
Andrew Wiggins
PJ Tucker
Protected 1st-round pick

Pistons get:
Lindy Waters III
Josh Richardson
2nd-round pick

Jazz get:
Dennis Schroder

Raptors get:
Kyle Anderson

Following the first initial announcement, Shams confirmed, Miami is keeping Kyle Anderson for now, sources said. So Wiggins, Tucker and Anderson are in Miami along with the Warriors protected first-rounder.
