Cody Rhodes might be on track for WrestleMania 41, but his list of challengers just got even longer.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is laying the groundwork for a showdown between Rhodes and Drew McIntyreone that was originally planned for 2023 before The American Nightmare came up short in his first attempt to capture the Undisputed WWE Championship.
McIntyres name has been in the headlines ever since his dramatic exit from the Royal Rumble, where he was visibly frustrated after being eliminated. Reports surfaced that he stormed out of the building before the match even ended, allegedly due to an errant movement from LA Knight that messed up his elimination. Now, WWE has officially moved McIntyre to SmackDown under the companys new transfer window, setting the stage for this long-awaited feud to finally take place.
While McIntyre is looking for a fresh start on the blue brand, Rhodes is already facing challenges from all angles. Seth Rollins has made it clear he wants to win the Elimination Chamber and challenge Rhodes for the title at WrestleMania 41. Meanwhile, Rhodes himself has expressed interest in a 60-minute Iron Man Match against Rollins. With multiple top stars gunning for his championship, Rhodes road to WrestleMania is becoming more complicated by the day.
For McIntyre, this rivalry is personal. The two-time WWE Champion was left on the outside looking in when Rhodes took center stage in 2023. Now, he has the perfect opportunity to rewrite that story and cement himself as the one who dethrones The American Nightmare.
Will McIntyre be the one to finally take the Undisputed WWE Championship from Cody Rhodes, or is this just another roadblock for The American Nightmare to overcome? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
