Nick Kyrgios' career now seems very close to its conclusion. The Australian ace - who has practically missed the last two seasons - is full of physical problems (especially in his wrist and knee) and has hinted that 2025 could be the last year he plays singles.

The 2022 Wimbledon Championships finalist is trying to re-enter the professional tour, but it is not easy to reach the level necessary to compete at a high level after such prolonged inactivity. His performances at the Brisbane International and especially at the Australian Open were very disappointing, indeed Nick seemed almost a former player for large stretches.

The feeling is that his main goal is to give himself the chance to compete at the Wimbledon Championships, the tournament in which he has the best chance of achieving a prestigious result and in which he reached the final three years ago.

To improve his form and regain confidence with tournaments, the talent from Canberra has decided to participate in the 'BNP Paribas Open' in Indian Wells next month. The Australian will play the first Masters 1000 of 2025 thanks to the protected ranking and will try to go as far as possible in a tournament in which he reached the quarterfinals in both 2017 and 2022.

Todd Larkham on young Kyrgios

Regardless of what the last part of his controversial career will look like, the general and widespread opinion is that Kyrgios has wasted his immense talent.

On the latest edition of 'Coach Life' on YouTube, his former coach Todd Larkham spoke about his former pupil: The volume of training that Nick Kyrgios did at a young age was roughly based on his age, so when he was ten, we did about ten hours training, and we started to increase it as he got older, so at 14, he wouldve done about 13-14 hours on court.

He also added: Nick Kyrgios played basketball growing up until he was about 15, developed such good footwork, hand-eye coordination and perception playing basketball which really helped his tennis.
