Sami Zayn wont be stepping into a WWE ring anytime soon. During SmackDown on February 7, 2025, Joe Tessitore delivered a grim update, confirming that Zayn is out of action indefinitely following Kevin Owens Package Piledriver on Monday Night RAW.
The news comes just days after Owens shocking assault, where he blindsided Zayn after his Elimination Chamber qualifying match against CM Punk. The attack wasnt just personalit was vicious. Owens didnt just leave Zayn downhe left him motionless in the ring, forcing WWE medical staff to stretcher him out of the arena.
Fans had already seen Owens rage earlier in the day when he released a video message from his car, making it crystal clear that he blames Zayn for everything thats happened to him. Owens accused Zayn of standing by while Cody Rhodes tried to end his career at the Royal Rumble, while Zayn rushed to help Roman Reigns instead. In his chilling words:
You just stood there and watched while Cody tried to end my career. Worse, I think he was actually trying to end my life in that Rumble. But you? You did nothing. Youre a horrible friend. Youre a disgusting human being. Ill never forgive you. Never. But I am gonna make you pay. Youre gonna pay.
Now, Zayn is officially sidelined, and with no timetable for his return, the question remainshow far is Owens willing to go to make his former best friend suffer?
