The world number 2 seemed ready to lift the first Major title of his career, but his dream was shattered against the Italian ace who dominated the match without giving him even a single break point.
Despite the progresses made in recent months and a much better attitude than in the past, the German champion still lacks something to be able to win a Grand Slam title.
Sascha has shown that he is inferior to the current world number 1 from all points of view, at least on the hard courts.
The feeling is that he will not find new solutions to adopt against Sinner and Alcaraz it will be very difficult for the ace from Hamburg to finally break this curse.

Zverev has arrived in Baires
In February, the German decided not to play tournaments on hard courts in Europe because he never found the right feeling with these events. The 2025 AO finalist admitted that he had never played well in Rotterdam and that it would not have made sense to sit still at this part of the season.
For this reason, Alexander decided to participate in the red clay events in South America. After practicing very hard in Monte Carlo last week, the world number 2 has already reached Argentina where he will play the Buenos Aires ATP 250.
Sascha wants to take his time to get used to this surface and the different conditions in South America.
His main goal is to win titles and regain confidence ahead of the 2025 French Open, which is still a long way off but requires the right preparation.
