Simona Halep's career has just ended, although the Romanian champion would have liked her last years to be more peaceful on and off the court. The two-time Grand Slam champion had to spend her last energies to solve the doping case that concerned her and did not have the ending that a legend of her caliber would have deserved.
After being defeated by Lucia Bronzetti at the Transilvania Open this week, the former world No.1 announced her decision to retire to start a new chapter in her life. During her speech, Halep made it clear to fans that tennis is no longer her priority and that her body no longer responds adequately to the demands of professional tennis.
Knowing that she can no longer compete at the highest level, Simona preferred to end her career avoiding dragging herself from one tournament to another without any ambition of victory (as many champions have done before her).

Kuznetsova on Halep'sretirement
Recently, former WTA star Svetlana Kuznetsova reflected on the Romanian's retirement and admitted that it is really a shame that the last part of her career was ruined by that doping case.
It is very sad to read that Simona was never able to come back and decided to end her sports career, said Svetlana.
Of course, the doping case, unfortunately, damaged not only Maria Sharapovas career but also Simona Haleps.
This is how it is in sports, such beautiful careers do not end on a high note. But nevertheless, Simona will forever remain a legendary athlete, and my congratulations to her Kuznetsova added.
The former world number 1 has always been defended by all those who knew her and who knew her integrity, but it was not easy for her to prove her innocence.

Simona was one of the leading players of the modern era, and consistency allowed her to become a champion despite the presence of many players who were more powerful than her from baseline and taller.
