Rafael Nadal is enjoying his free time together with his wonderful family after the end of his professional career. The Spanish legend retired late last year, playing his last official event at the Davis Cup Finals in Malaga in November.
Everyone hoped that the last year of Rafa's career would be richer in satisfaction, but the results were not up to the level of an icon of his caliber. The 22-time Grand Slam champion reached the final in the Bastad ATP 250 as his best result in 2024, too little for a player who has made the history of modern sport.
It's no secret that the former champion from Manacor has thought of extending his legendary career by another year by playing in 2025, but the results obtained at the French Open and the Paris Olympics convinced him to say enough.
His body has been sending him very clear signals over the past two years, and Nadal understood that it would be impossible to win prestigious tournaments in his current condition.
The 14-time Roland Garros champion admitted that he still has some pain in his daily life, but the situation is under control and he does not miss tennis too much.
Nadal talks about his son
The Spaniard has several passions outside of tennis and spends a lot of time with his family, who have supported him throughout his long career.
His son is two and a half years old and Rafa is delighted to spend most of his days with him. Interviewed by 'La Vanguardia' during a recent ceremony, the Spanish legend was asked if his son plays tennis with his right hand or with his left hand.
"He doesn't play with either hand, at least for the moment," Nadal replied. "He is experimenting with different sports: one day he plays football, another day he plays golf, another day he plays tennis. He's having fun, he's still a kid," added the 22-time Grand Slam champion.
